Chapter Ten

Jasmine

I floated into the office with the biggest smile on my face. It’s been almost a week since our night at the restaurant and we’ve been stuck like glue ever since. This was usually the type of thing that I had only seen in movies or read about in books, but it was really happening to me. During our many conversations and nights just hanging out, I really found myself liking him more and more, maybe even slowly falling in love with him. I shook my head at the thought. It was entirely too soon for the love word. But I could feel it somewhere in the air.

“Good morning, Miss Brown,” He greeted me while walking into my office before placing a Vanilla Frappuccino on my desk.

“Good morning,” I smiled. “How are you?”

“Doing better now that I’ve seen you,” he replied while taking a seat in front of me. “What’s on the agenda for today boss lady?”

“Business as usual,” I answered with a wink.

We made small talk as we walked down the short hall and into the Planning Room. Together, we sat down and got to work. I was in a complete trance as he reached into his portfolio and pulled out a few sketches.

“What are these?” I asked sliding it closer to me to get a better look.

“Just a few sketches that I made for the building,” He replied. “After looking at the previous buildings, this is my idea of better than the last. Although they’re just rough drafts, they’ll give you an idea of what I’m going for.”

With wide eyes, I looked at the drafts in amazement. Although I had my own suggestions for the project, he pretty much hit the nail on the head with what I was already envisioning. It was as if he took all of my ideas from my head and drew it up on paper.

“They’re amazing!” I found myself saying.

It was then that I realized that I had to get myself in check really quick and real soon, because these ideas that he had come up with for our project had somehow become an attraction magnet that drew me into him more. Not to mention how diligently and fast he worked proved to me that he wasn’t all talk and that I made the right decision to hire him. I couldn’t believe he had what this project should entail that I literally just put together last night, on his papers. It was as if he was able to sketch out my thoughts. This can’t be real. I thought to myself.

Glancing down, I looked back and forth from his design to my notes and continued to compare what we were about to create together. Oddly enough, he had bold ideas that spoke volumes and they somehow complimented the path I wanted to be on. While his was more structural, mine were more dollars and cents and making sure that we stayed within our budget. It amazed me that even with us working separately, we were somehow still in sync.
